MISSION
CSI Bishop Solomon Doraisawmy College of Arts and Science with the love of God imparts Righteous values and offers Whole Person Education for a holistic development, and fosters innovation, social responsibility, ecological consciousness, entrepreneurship, partnership and networking to sculpt the future leaders appropriate to the needs of the country and the world.
The Emblem of C.S.I. Bishop Doraisawmy College of Arts and Science is the graphic representation of its ideologies. The dove on the top represents Peace and Holiness. Further, it symbolises the message of freedom through education. The Cross and the Bible on the left emphasises the spiritual vitality of the college and signifies the message of selfless love and dedication. The candle on the right is to highlight that the light of education dispels the darkness of ignorance and illiteracy to ignites the lives of students and their dependents.
The silhouette of the industry is to represent the social relevance of the college which stands in solidarity with the industrial life of the Textile city of Tamilnadu, Karur. The guiding principles of the college, “Enlight, Enrich, Empower” makes it clear that the college aims to enlight the lives of students to have a bright future, enrich the quality of the lives of students and empower them to become a valuable asset of the country.
Bishop Solomon Doraisawmy was born on June 17, 1917. He had a strong academic background through his school education at St. Andrew’s High School, Arackonam. Further, he earned his graduate degree from the American College, Madurai. To begin his ministerial endeavour, he pursued B.T. from the Meston Training College, Madras. God brought together Bishop Solomon Doraisawmy and Mrs. Christina Doraisawmy in marriage in 1943 to translate visions into actions. Bishop Solomon Doraisawmy pursued his theological education through United Theological College, Bangalore and received his Bachelor of Divinity degree from Serampore College in 1947. Solomon Doraisawmy served in various capacities and was consecrated as the Bishop of the Trichy Tanjore Diocese on February 8, 1964. Faithful and sincere servants of God are given more responsibilities and so, Bishop Solomon Doraisawmy was elected to be the Deputy Moderator of Church of South India for three terms from 1974 to 1980. He was further consecrated to be the Moderator of Church India between 1980 and 1982. His tenure of service at the CSI synod initiated several beneficial schemes for the people of all Diocese.

Bishop Solomon Doraisawmy was a multi-faceted personality who was known for his multi-tasking ability. Being a born educationalist with great foresight, he had a prime vision for growth through education. A great milestone during his tenure was reviving the Bishop Heber College after a long void of 34 years and to raise it to a Post-graduate College of the day with facilities second to none in the field. Bishop Solomon Doraisawmy gave utmost care to the quality of education and never spared to compromise with it. He enhanced the infrastructural requirements through his foresighted efforts. Several renovations, reconstructions and new establishments were erected to be the pillars of education. His policy has been to hasten to the help of the poor who need education so none of them is denied an opportunity for education for want of economic means. The educational policies of the Bishop have brought socio-economic and cultural liberation for the oppressed. The academic development Bishop Solomon Doraisawmy brought into the length and breadth of Trichy and its neighbourhood is tremendous. The empowering of the society through Professional and non-professional courses has enriched the lives of people and delivered from the bondage of ignorance and inferiority. Today, CSI Bishop Solomon Doraisawmy College of Arts and Science stands as a monument holding his dreams and vision.
